About Us

The Faculty Senate is the vehicle by which faculty members have the authority to actively participate in shaping the direction and governance of the university. Through its committees and as both a deliberative and legislative body, the Senate plays a vital role in matters such as academic policies, proposals for new programs and degree approvals, faculty compensation, annual budgets, and leadership reviews—including chairs and deans. It’s a collaborative space dedicated to advancing shared academic and institutional goals.

The Senate also provides a structured and respectful avenue for addressing faculty concerns, including grievances related to rank, salary, and conditions of employment, as well as appeals on tenure decisions.

Senate meetings are held monthly throughout the academic year, fostering consistent engagement. Senators are elected from each school/college to serve three-year terms, and Senate officers are chosen annually.
